Twisted Roll with Bacon and Herb
I had a little bit left over herb oil after I baked the cheese bread stick. The oil tastes good, so I wanted to put some use on it.
Ingredients: dry yeast, sugar, flour, bacon, herb oil.
Method: 1. Mix 2 teaspoons yeast with same amount sugar, add some warm water, set aside for about 10 minutes or until you see lots of bubbles on top. 2. Add flour to yeast mixture, form a smooth dough, add more warm water if needed. The dough should feel a little bit more firm than bread dough. 3. Set dough aside for about 10 minutes. 4. Chop bacon into thin short strips, cook in a skillet, remove from heat before bacon get crispy. set aside to let it cool. 5. Seperate dough into proper amount if need. 6. Roll one piece into a big sheet, brush with herb oil, then sprinkle with bacon strips. To know what's in herb oil, please see cheese bread stick. 7. Roll the sheet into a long roll, then cut into short pieces. 8. Put one little piece on top of another, use a chopstick or something similar press in the middle. 9. Pull chopstick out, then twist and shape the roll as shown in pictures. If the roll is not long enough to shape, you can slightly pull a little bit. 10. Set roll aside for about 30 minutes to let it rise, then steam for about 15-20 minutes depend on the roll size. 11. Serve when roll's warm.
