Ingredients:

Bread: 3 cups flour, 1 egg, 1 cup warm milk, 4 tbsp (60 gram/half a stick) room temperature butter, 1/3 cup sugar, 2 tsp dry yeast, 1/2 tsp salt, some raisins.

Topping: 1 egg yolk, 1 tbsp water, 2 tsb honey, some roasted sesame seeds, some melted butter.

 

Method:

1. Mix yeast and 2 tsp sugar, then add milk, stir to melt yeast, set aside for about 10 minutes.

2. Add egg to yeast mixture.

3. Mix flour, salt and rest of sugar, add into yeast mixture.

4. After form a ball, add butter, form a smooth ball.

5. Transfer dough to a lightly greased bowl, set aside until double sized.

Single Braided Bread with Raisins6. Knead dough down. Seperate into 6 pieces, set aside for about 10 minutes.

7. Soak raisin in water for several minutes, then drain, dry with paper towel.

8. Roll each dough into a long oval shape, sprinkle with raisins, then roll up and stretch into a long thin stick.

10. When all the dough's done, set aside in a warm place, until double sized.

11. Preheat oven to 350 degree.

12. Mix egg yolk, water and honey, brush on top of bread, then sprinkle with sesame seeds, bake for 20-25 minutes or until gold brown.

13. Once taking bread out of oven, brush with melted butter, transfer to cooling rack to cool.
